Accommodations

Billeting

Young artists have the option of being billeted with a host family for the duration of their two weeks at the Festival. Billets are available at an additional cost of $150 and are confirmed on a first come, first serve basis. Meals are not included in your billeting fee

Host families provide accommodation only – they are not expected to provide food or transportation.

Locations are generally close to the Dalhousie Arts Centre, but can be as far as a 30-minute walk or bus ride away.

If you are interested in being billeted by a host family, please indicate this on your application.

The deadline to apply for a billet is March 15th, 2025.

Dalhousie University Residences

You also have the option of staying in Dalhousie University's LeMarchant Place Residence, located one block away from the Dalhousie Arts Centre. Cost has not been confirmed for 2025, but in 2024 the cost was $975 CAD ($60/night). These rooms are arranged via Scotia Festival directly, so if you’re interested in this option, please indicate so on your application. Meals are not included.

Transportation

Halifax Stanfield International Airport is well served by variety of airlines, and offers direct flights from numerous Canadian cities, Boston, New York and Orlando in the US, as well as London’s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports in the UK and Frankfurt, Germany.

Halifax Transit's bus and ferry system is very easy to use, and their Route 320 travels to and from the airport. Fares start at $2.75.

Halifax is a very compact and walkable city; it's doubtful that you'll need a car.
