A note from our Artistic Director

August 2024

Dear Music Lovers,

There are many reasons to be excited about this year's Music Room Chamber Players series. Here are just some of them:

• We will hear three concerts by magnificent string quartets: Canada's renowned Penderecki Quartet, France's Magenta Quartet; and a home-grown quartet led by Renaud Lapierre, concertmaster of Symphony Nova Scotia.

• We dive into some of the great classics of the piano: Heather Taves brings us part of her epic Beethoven journey, with five Beethoven sonatas, and we end the series with a "mini-festival" in which we hear all 21 Chopin Nocturnes, and enjoy a Chopin cocktail especially created for us!

• We will discover exciting new visitors to our series including the entertaining VC2 cello duo; innovative harpsichordist Cynthia Hiebert; 2024 Eckhardt-Gramatté winner, violinist Justin Saulnier; and the superb Canadian soprano, Meghan Lindsay.

• We welcome back some beloved friends, including cellist Blair Lofgren; pianist Philip Chiu; clarinettist Christine Carter; and cellist India Gailey.

• Once again we are delighted to partner with Dalhousie's Fountain School of Performing Arts to present their Faculty Chamber Series with four concerts in the beautiful Joseph Strug Concert Hall.

As you peruse the concerts, you will no doubt find your own favourites!

A full subscription to our series remains an excellent deal, at $350. That's $17.50 per concert if you come to everything. A livestream subscription is $200 or just $10 per concert. If you want to pick and choose, our Pick 10 package is for you.

Please remember that ticket prices only represent part of the cost of presenting this series. If you can, please consider adding a donation when you purchase your tickets.

I look forward to seeing you soon!
