Alain Trudel returns to Scotia Festival for the first time since 2009, to conduct a stunning orchestral gala, including a gem-like piano concerto by Quebec’s José Evangelista, Mozart’s beloved clarinet concerto, and two dazzling works for large orchestra: Stravinsky’s “breakout” Firebird is full of the colour and mystery of Russian fairy tales; and to conclude, we hear La Valse for the second time in our festival, in Ravel’s own superb orchestration.
