Lyricism and Energy

Wednesday, June 5 at 7:30pm
Joseph Strug Concert Hall, Fountain School of Performing Arts
1385 Seymour St., Halifax

Sponsored by Oriel MacLennan

Book 8 of Edvard Grieg’s charming Lyric Pieces includes the famous Wedding Day at Troldhaugen. Julia Wolfe’s Dark Full Ride for four drum sets provides an irresistible build-up of white-hot energy. Then Cameron Crozman plays one of Britten’s deeply personal cello suites, written for the great Rostropovich, and lastly, we hear Bartók at the height of his powers in his searing third string quartet from 1927.
